An Immersive

Experience!

According to Wikipedia, Immersion into virtual
reality is a perception of being physically
present in a non-physical world. The perception
is created by surrounding the user of the VR
system in images, sound or other stimuli that
provide an engrossing total environment.

Using the controller a driver can teleport into
or out of the truck cab. To a casual observer
watching the session, they see the student
physically moving in a manner consistent with
looking at an actual truck and trailer.

This feature is so important to the training
and review process. The Student Truck Driver
is sitting in the cab and can’t understand why
the truck won’t pull forward. They can get out
of the cab and look around and possibly find
the wheel chocks they forgot to remove. This
gives the training a real experiential feel to
the session. The driver feels immersed in the
process and can behave in a manner consistent
to actually being in a truck!
